Jane Goldberg loved her family. She was her family’s cheerleader and the greatest supporter of her four kids and five grandchildren. Jane lifted up the community with her hard work and quiet philanthropy. Her death left a hole in her entire family but she leaves behind a legacy at The Mayday Foundation to help families in Thurston and Grays Harbor counties spend time together during a major illness. GG’s Rainy Day Fund is named after Jane also known as “GG,” the term affectionately used by her grandchildren.
“GG’s highest priority was being able to spend time with her family and therefore we want to pass along those values in this charity,” said Lauren Goldberg, one of Jane’s four children.
GG’s Rainy Day Fund covers transportation costs and other expenses that enable families to spend time together when one person is ill. The goal of the fund is to bring families together in a time of great need. The fund may also provide grocery gift cards for a special meal, tickets to an event, or passes for a family outing that allow families to connect in person during a visit.
Eligibility requirements include:
- A family member actively receiving treatment for a serious illness or as a result of an accident, or in hospice care
- One or more of the family members must live or receive treatment in Grays Harbor or Thurston counties
- Multiple generations coming together (ie grandparent + grandchildren)
